Connor Shields interests Dundee United and Motherwell as race for striker set to heat up

Queen of the South hit-man Connor Shields is attracting interest from Scottish Premiership clubs.

Mailsport understands Dundee United and Motherwell have both registered an interest in the former Sunderland striker.

Shields has bagged 11 goals in the Scottish Championship this term and is now out of contract at Palmerston.

Dundee - who have a Premiership play-off tie against Kilmarnock on Monday - are also keen on the 23-year-old.

Scouts from city rivals United and ‘Well have watched Shields for Queens this season and could make a move as the summer transfer window approaches.

Meanwhile, Preston are keen to sign Scottish defender Liam Lindsay on a permanent deal.

The former Partick Thistle centre-back has impressed since joining on loan from Stoke City back in February.

Now new Preston boss Frankie McAvoy - who replaced Scot Alex Neil - wants to keep Lindsay, who moved from Barnsley to Stoke for £2million in 2019.
