Connor Heyward named to Paul Hornung Award Watch List

Michigan State Football’s Connor Heyward, the 3rd year running back from Duluth, Georgia has been named to the Paul Hornung Award watch list. This is the award given to the nation’s most versatile player. Heyward was one of the five finalists for the award last season.

There are 44 players on the watch list for the award.

Heyward led Michigan State in rushing last year with 118 carries for 529 yards. He also had 5 touchdowns and returned 13 kicks for 287 yards. He had 1,065 all-purpose yards on the season. Additionally, according to Michigan State’s website his 32 receptions last season were the most by an MSU running back since Le’Veon Bell in 2012.

Heyward was named an honorable mention for the All-Big Ten team last year as a kick returner as voted by the media.

Heyward is one of the most interesting players on offense for the Spartans and his explosiveness will be a huge factor for the Spartans this season.
