Connor Goldson to make Rangers return as Filip Helander injury timeline revealed by Steven Gerrard

Rangers will have Connor Goldson available for their clash with Lyon after his Covid isolation.

But they will be without Filip Helander for the 'foreseeable' future after he was forced to undergo surgery over the last couple of days.

Goldson missed Saturday's clash with St Johnstone after being forced to self-isolate while Helander was stretchered off in the second half.

That led to worries that Rangers would only have Leon Balogun as a fit and available centre back for Thursday night's game.

But Gerrard has now confirmed Goldson will be available for the game while they are also looking to get Ianis Hagi back as soon as possible.

The Romanian tested positive for Covid-19 while on international duty and is currently in his home country.

And Gerrard said: “Filip Helander will be missing, he has had surgery in the last 48 hours and will be missing for the foreseeable future.

“Connor Goldson comes back and is available for tomorrow, I am confident we have cover and will manage despite being disappointed Filip is missing.

“We are having discussions to get Ianis Hagi back as soon as possible.

"Allan McGregor is available for selection, he is fit and good to go tomorrow."
