Connor Goldson says new Rangers deal talks will come when 'time is right' as he bans invincible chat

Connor Goldson says he will sit down for talks over a new deal "when the time is right" as the Rangers stopper looks to continue his excellent start to the season into the second half of the campaign.

The imperious 28-year-old has been in commanding form as part of a Gers defensive unit conceding just five league goals in 22 games thus far.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion defender signed a four-year deal when he arrived at Ibrox for a £3 million fee in 2018, but with that contract due to expire next summer, the centre half is remaining coy on any future plans to extend that arrangement.

Rangers go to Pittodrie on Sunday bidding to extend an unbeaten Premiership run stretching back to March last year - one that has put the Govan club 19 points clear of rivals Celtic at the country's summit.

However Goldson said there was no suggestion among the dressing room that an 'invincible' campaign like that of Brendan Rodgers' Celtic could be possible at the current moment.

He said: ""We have all been here long enough to know what can happen, even at this stage of the season.

"We have all been here before so we are just literally concentrating on the Aberdeen game.

"We all know what we want to achieve and we have known that from the beginning of the season.

"We have put ourselves in a good place but there is nearly half a season to go because nothing gets won in January."

Goldson was briefly linked with a move to Everton last summer, but under his current status, clubs showing interest south of the border could be tempted into a bid at the end of the season when the stopper has just 12 months left on his deal.

But the former Shrewsbury Town man has shown no inclination that he wants to leave the club and is confident talks will take place at some stage.

"There's nothing to speak about," Goldson said when asked whether he had been offered new terms.

"There is no news, literally, I haven't heard anything.

"But I'm sure we will speak about it when the time is right."
