Connor Goldson Rangers vs Celtic 'handball' handed Ref Watch treatment as Dermot Gallagher has say

Dermot Gallaher has delivered his verdict on a talking point from the Old Firm derby this weekend.

Rangers and Celtic battled it out at Ibrox in the final meeting between the city rivals in the Premiership this season. Michael Beale had not defeated Ange Postecoglou in his previous four attempts with one draw and three defeats in the most recent meetings including a League Cup Final and Scottish Cup semi-final loss at Hampden.

However, he got that vital first derby win thanks to a comfortable victory over the Scottish champions. Todd Cantwell opened the scoring with just five minutes on the clock after firing low beyond Joe Hart after he pushed John Lundstram's effort out into his path. John Souttar added a second with a training ground worked header from a James Tavernier corner before Fashion Sakala made sure of the points as he capitalised on a rare Callum McGregor and Carl Starfelt mix-up to race through on goal and round the Hoops No1 before slotting the ball into an empty net.

One talking point from the game was a 'handball' from Connor Goldson but the former English Premier League whistler was quick to dismiss any claims over a penalty, agreeing with the on field decision at the time.

He told Sky Sports: "It can't be a penalty can it? He's falling back breaking his fall.

"His arm is clearly on the floor and the ball strikes it. No doubt about it.

"But you see the players reaction. They don't even appeal as they know now that is what the rule is."
