Connor Goldson's contract saga at Rangers took another twist on Wednesday - but is the writing now on the wall for the big defender at Ibrox?
Goldson claims he’s heard nothing from the club recently over fresh terms and with just seven months left on his current deal the clock is well and truly ticking on his future in Govan.
Steven Gerrard was optimistic of tying the Englishman down on an extended contract in the summer but those negotiations appear to have stalled.
And Gers fans are beginning to lose patience with the 28-year-old.
Jimmy Mac, Glasgow, said: “ Barry Ferguson stated Goldson should be chapping the manager’s door. Has Goldson had his head turned by agents and wants to go to England? Goldson might get a mid-table Championship club or Premier League club fighting relegation he won’t win any more honours and no more European games. If money comes before your love of football then you have no love for the beautiful game.”
Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, added: “So Goldson is in the dark about signing a new contract, you would think the offer would have been put on the table by now. He likely wants a better deal, if he's not 100 per cent committed to the club it's better for him going elsewhere.”
Aberdeen boss Stephen Glass took aim at “shock jocks" he reckons have an agenda against him this week as he looks for a first win in 10 games against Hibs on Saturday.
It came hot on the heels of chairman Dave Cormack’s spiky live radio defence of the man he appointed just seven months ago.
But Gerry Milligan, Erskine, said: “Aberdeen have to act now, their season already looks like getting worse. Glass is too meek a guy to get a tune out of an inadequate squad plus Lewis Ferguson and Ryan Hedges will be picked off in January - bring in Stephen Robinson to fire them up.”
However, Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, argued: “Well done Dave Cormack for defending Stephen Glass. I just hope the team Glass has put together can go out and prove him right.”

Back to Rangers and Steve McSherry, Uddingston , said: “I had to laugh at Hotline caller John Davidson who thinks that Rangers are ‘coasting’ through the first quarter of the season. What planet is he on? After a good season last year they have reverted to bang average and with Celtic settling in they will be left in our slipstream. And as for Gerrard going to Newcastle, behave he has no chance.”
Lance Little, Erskine, added: “To all the worried Rangers fans. Don’t lose any sleep as Newcastle won't be coming calling for Stevie G. They are looking for much more than a rookie manager who has won one trophy from nine.”
And Bud Hay, Dumfries, reckons Gerrard could be in for a tough season should he remain in Glasgow. He said: “Celtic are back and you better believe it. Kyogo is the best signing in years and reminds me of Larsson in his day the way he scores goals, well just about. Come on the Hoops!”
Last word to jubilant Jag John McInally, Maryhill, still coming back to earth after Partick Thistle’s 6-1 destruction of Hamilton last Friday.
John beamed: “With all the bad luck of recent seasons I feel that the mighty Jags are on the rise. A couple of bad results early on but now we are finding our feet and playing some great football, I can see us challenging in the top six in the Premiership once we gain promotion. We are a massive club and won’t need any Saudi money to get us back where we belong.”
