Connor Goldson in major Rangers contract clue as he targets three year Ibrox domination period

Rangers centre-back Connor Goldson doesn't want his team-mates to be known as one-hit wonders.

And the defensive mainstay has instead called on the Light Blues squad to produce a whole album of title hits.

Much has been made of Goldson's contractual situation as he is yet to sign an extension with just one year left, with Record Sport columnist Barry Ferguson insisting he should be kept for a crack at an automatic Champions League place even if that means leaving for nothing next summer.

But the Rangers ever-present seems to see himself in light blue for years to come – as he targeted titles number 56, 57 and 58.

Speaking to Rangers TV, he said: “I sat down on holiday and thought about it and it sunk in a little bit what we done but I don’t think it’ll be until the end of my career when you really look back on last season and see how special it was.

“As soon as you start back running on pre-season your only focus is on the future and the present so I don’t really want to look back too much.

“We know we made history and we’ll go down but now it’s time to decide what we want to do. Do we want to go and dominate or do we want to be known as the team that won 55?

“Do we want to go on now and win 56, 57, 58? Or do we just want to be known as the team that won 55?

“Personally, that’s where my head is at and I think the gaffer will be drilling that home every day to make us try and go on and hopefully dominate.

“You’ve got the taste of success and you see what this football club is about when it’s successful last season, you can only imagine what it will be like winning things in front of a full house at Ibrox.

“Winning trophies and playing in the Champions League, that’s where my head is at. I’m desperate to get the season started and we’re working hard every day and it’s been tough so far.

“But we want to go on now and try and dominate Scotland. There’s no reason why we can’t, it’s going to be tough, we’re going to have to be 100 per cent every game but if we get to the levels we had last season when we were as hungry as we’ve ever been then we’ve got a great chance.”
