Connor Goldson given green light for Rangers in Lyon clash after isolation stint

Connor Goldson has been green-lit to play for Rangers against Lyon tomorrow evening.

The defender missed his side's victory over St Johnstone last weekend, bringing to an end his incredible 81 consecutive starts under manager Steven Gerrard.

They won 2-1 in his absence but partner Filip Helander picked up an injury leaving the Light Blues short at the back.

Leon Balogun, it was feared, would be the only notable centre-back with Calvin Bassey an option.

But it will come as a major boost to have Goldson available following a Covid scare.

The Scottish Sun are reporting that Goldson will be ready to go after his self-isolation period.

Rivals Lyon, meanwhile, had their own isolation issues but the Scottish Government granted Lucas Paqueta, Bruno Guimaraes and Tino Kadewere permission to skip quarantine after visiting red list countries on international duty last week.

Two players who are less likely to travel to Glasgow are former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele and Xherdan Shaqiri with injury and vaccination issues respectively.
