Connor Goldson gets Rangers 'go ahead' to return for Europa League showdown with Lyon

Connor Goldson has been given the all-clear to return for Rangers' clash with Lyon - according to a report.

The centre-back's remarkable run of 81 consecutive starts under Steven Gerrard came to an end at the weekend as he was forced into self-isolation and missed the win over St Johnstone.

Rangers were dealt a further defensive blow ahead of their Europa League opener when Filip Helander was carried off injured during the 2-1 Premiership win in Perth.

But The Scottish Sun now report Goldson is free to play on Thursday night when the Ligue 1 heavyweights arrive at Ibrox.

They too have had issues with isolation requirements but the Scottish Government granted Lucas Paqueta, Bruno Guimaraes and Tino Kadewere permission to skip quarantine after visiting red list countries on international duty last week.

Reports in France, however, indicate Lyon will be without the injured Moussa Dembele and summer signing from Liverpool, Xherdan Shaqiri.

It's claimed former Celtic striker Dembele - who has scored against Rangers seven times - has a muscle issue and remains in France, while Shaqiri hasn't travelled as he has not been fully vaccinated.
