Rangers defender Connor Goldson says Giovanni van Bronckhorst has to bring a spark as Ibrox boss - as the Premiership champions have lost their mojo.
The Dutchman's first day as Steven Gerrard's successor will be sombre after a 3-1 Premier Sports Cup semi-final defeat to Hibs.
Martin Boyle netted a first half hat-trick and Scott Arfield's strike only proved to be a Rangers consolation as they missed out on a showpiece final with Celtic.
B team boss David McCallum manned the fort ahead the Dutchman's first day tomorrow, and Goldson says that he isn't to blame for a bad day at the office.
And Goldson admits Rangers are lacking motivation after last season's title win.
He said: "You would hope players would want to impress the new manager.
"We need something to change. We need a spark.
"I don't want to say this, but we've lost a bit of hunger. We are champions and some think they don't need to work as hard. That's crept in all season."
He added on Premier Sports: "I'm not going to sit here and not give Hibs credit as they beat us fair and square.
"But as Rangers Football Club, we have to be so much better.
"As a team we are not performing right now. Not one player can hold their head high. The staff have been excellent and we have let ourselves down.
"If people don't want to be in the right positions, we can't blame coaches. It's nowhere near good enough."
When quizzed if the result was in any way related to Steven Gerrard's exit, Goldson cut in stating: "No, not at all.
"The staff have covered everything this week. We've let ourselves down and players didn't follow instructions.
"People are in the wrong positions, which we worked in yesterday (at training)."
