We're already halfway into October - which means it's only a matter of time before the transfer rumour mill kicks back into full gear.
There is an endless list of players available on pre-contracts from January onwards - both in Scotland and further afield - while some players are available now.
More than 120 stars in the Scottish Premiership alone will become free agents - and we haven't covered the 225 in the same category at English Championship level.
So, clearly, there is an abundance of talent which could depart the top flight this summer.
But there are also several players who could arrive in Scottish football in the not too distant future.
So Record Sport examines the runners and riders of who could fall into that category.
David Marshall - Derby County

The 36-year-old has had quite the year. Last November, he saved the penalty which sent Scotland to Euro 2020. Then he played all three games at the summer tournament.
Now he is third-choice at cash-strapped Derby as manager Wayne Rooney seeks alternative options between the sticks.
A return north could propel Marshall back into the Scotland reckoning.
Jamie McGrath - St Mirren
It's hard to tell where the Republic of Ireland international will be this time next year. Hibs launched a last-gasp summer offer for him, only for it to fall at the final hour.
St Mirren have tabled a record-breaking contract to McGrath. There's English interest too, and it's easy to see why, after the midfielder scored 17 times last term.
Kento Misao - Kashima Antlers
We're cheating a bit with this one as the Kashima Antlers star's contract doesn't expire until December 2022, but this could be really appealing for Celtic.
Manager Ange Postecoglou has already stated he wants to raid the J-League for a player to make an impact similar to Kyogo Furuhashi, who arrived from Vissel Kobe in the summer.
Misao is a defensive midfielder and could provide some steel that has been sorely missing for Celtic. He is Antlers captain, aged just 25, and has six caps for Japan. A cut-price summer deal may work.
Raul Ruidiaz - Seattle Sounders

You may need to push the wage boat out there, but if either Celtic or Rangers were looking for more firepower short-term, 31-year-old Ruidiaz would be a good shout.
He's scored goals wherever he has gone and so far has 18 goals in 28 MLS matches this season.
He could arrive in Glasgow this January for a transfer fee of £0.
Shaun Rooney - St Johnstone

Sticking closer to home, it's hard to ignore the achievements of Rooney since moving from Inverness to Perth in 2020.
He's scored the two most important goals in St Johnstone history to seal a League Cup and Scottish Cup double.
A bargain option on a free next summer.
Benjamin Siegrist - Dundee United
The Swiss shot-stopper has been immense for the Tannadice side following their return to the Premiership last term and talk of his exit has lingered for some time.
There's been rumours of Celtic and Russia in recent rumour mills, and with a good back-up in Trevor Carson behind him in Tayside, could this summer be the time where Siegrist finally departs?
Connor Goldson - Rangers
Arguably the biggest talking point on this list - what is going with Goldson's contract talks at Ibrox?
The centre-back was a colossus last season as Rangers romped to the title, but this season, Goldson hasn't hit those same high heights.
Sorting his contract situation quickly, one way or another, would provide clarity for all.
Tahvon Campbell - Woking
Scottish clubs are known for their raiding of the English lower leagues - the likes of Motherwell hero Louis Moult coming from this region - and perhaps Campbell could be the next gem.
The former West Brom youngster has scored eight times in nine games for Woking so far this season, almost half of the non-league side's league goals.
At 24, he is available for nothing next year.
John Souttar - Hearts

The 25-year-old centre-back's resurgence back into Hearts' plans after multiple Achilles ruptures has been nothing short of inspiring.
Souttar is back to his best, a mainstay in the middle of Robbie Neilson's defence.
His contract runs out in May though and everyone at Tynecastle will want his future clear - with that preferably being in Gorgie.
Jeando Fuchs - Dundee United
Sorry Dundee United fans, but the midfielder is too good to leave out, so another Tannadice star must be included in this list.
Fuchs has really come into his own this term after arriving last season from Deportivo Alaves.
They'll face a fight to keep him, with Championship club Blackpool the first team to be linked with a January swoop.
Robbie Brady - Free agent

The Irish winger has long been linked with Celtic but is still without a club following his summer exit from Burnley.
It's perhaps surprising a player of his calibre - boasting 160 Premier League appearances and 57 Republic of Ireland caps on his CV - has been unemployed for so long.
He's still awaiting his next move despite links to Bournemouth.
