Connor Cook waived by Detroit Lions

The lumps keep on coming for Connor Cook.

The former Michigan State star quarterback was waived by the Detroit Lions on Monday. Cook will be a free agent for the fourth time in his four-year NFL career.

Cook was drafted in the 4th round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. Cook made his first and only NFL start in a 2016-2017 Wildcard game in which he and the team performed poorly in a 27-14 loss. Cook was released by the Raiders just prior to the 2018 season starting.

He then joined the Panthers and Bengals as a practice squad member before the Lions signed him to compete for the backup and third-string jobs behind Matthew Stafford.

The Lions signed QB David Faces to replace Cook.
