New Amec chairman John Connolly has been in the market buying shares in the engineer.
Amec said today in a statement that Connolly, who is currently chief executive of Deloitte until this coming Tuesday, had shelled out £200,000 on shares in advance of taking up his new role.
He starts at Amec on Wednesday.
The shares are up 5p today at £11.52.
The FTSE 100 is 17 points ahead of yesterday's close, at 5,887. The Dow has opened just under 0.5% down after US GDP figures for the first quarter undershot estimates.
