Connell Rawlinson makes brilliant Lewis Knight admission that Notts County fans will love

Connell Rawlinson has been impressed with Lewis Knight’s sharpness in training and hopes he will thrive on the pressure of playing for Notts County.

The striker is yet to make his debut following his move from Bradford Park Avenue earlier this month, when the Magpies fended off several EFL sides to sign him.

Knight is currently working on his fitness having not played since January after the National League North campaign was curtailed due to a lack of financial support in the coronavirus pandemic.

The former Leeds United youngster scored nine goals in 14 league games for Park Avenue before their season finished, and Notts fans are eager to get a glimpse of their latest recruit.

But centre-back Rawlinson, who has seen him up close and personal since his move to Meadow Lane, says the striker has already shown signs of what he could add to the side.

“He’s very fast, I can tell you that,” he said.

“I am quick over long distances, although I am a bit like a big ship. Once I get going, I just can’t stop.

“But he’s come in and he’s looked sharp. It’s a big step up for him where he’s come from. He’s come out of full-time football to part-time and back again.

“It’s Notts County and it’s a big club.

“There will be pressure on him but hopefully he will thrive on that. I’ve seen him in training and he looks very sharp. It’s another feather in our cap.”
