A Connecticut teenager has built a small drone that is capable of firing a pistol and it just might be legal. Does it get more American than that?
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the drone built by Austin Haughwout to see if the teen violated any state or federal laws by using the drone to fire a weapon, according to the Christian Science Monitor.
The FAA “will investigate the operation of an unmanned aircraft system in a Connecticut park to determine if any Federal Aviation Regulations were violated,” a spokesman told CNET. “The FAA will also work with its law enforcement partners to determine if there were any violations of criminal statutes.”
Mr Haughwout and his father, Brett, claim that they did not violate any laws in using the weapon-wielding drone, saying they did extensive research before building the machine and fired the weapon on their own land.
The local police told ABC News that it appears the pair did not violate any state laws in operating the drone.
