Connah's Quay Nomads stun Scottish Premiership side to book Europa League showdown with Partizan Belgrade

Connah's Quay set up a Europa League tie with FK Partizan Belgrade after an dramatic 2-0 away win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

Heading into the match with the Scottish Premiership outfit, who had finished third in the league last season, 2-1 down after losing their home leg, the Nomads knew they needed to score twice to progress to the second round of qualifying.

After a goalless first-half, Ryan Wignall opened the scoring in the 49th minute with a header.

However, that goal alone wasn't enough - with the Scottish side still heading through on away goals.

But the last ten minutes of the match brought plenty of drama as the Nomads booked their place in the next round.

First, Kilmarnock were reduced to 10 men after Stuart Findlay was red-carded for upending Jamie Insall in the box.

Callum Morris stepped up to take the penalty and duly tucked it away to put the visitors ahead on aggregate.

The drama wasn't finished - with goal-scorer Wignall being sent off not long after to level the sides.

Despite that, the Nomads held on for their place in the next round and a trip to Serbia.

This was the second positive result for Welsh football this week - with TNS setting up a Champions League qualifying clash with FC Copenhagen on Tuesday.
