Ex-NFL star Marquette King's claim he would 'easily dominate' rugby was met with a cheeky response from Connacht on Twitter.
The American football punter sparked a lively social media debate when he tweeted: "If I played rugby I would dominate it easily."
Connacht came up with a brilliant reply - questioning if King could deal with tough weather conditions on their home patch.
They tweeted: "Yeah but can you do it on a cold rainy night at the Sportsground?"
The official All Blacks account also got in on the act with an invite to training, tweeting: "You’re welcome to join us for training anytime."
Former players Jordan Crane and Petrus De Plessis also waded into the Twitter debate and ex-All Blacks star Jerome Kaino added: "Would love to see it brother #NoPads."
6ft, 13-stone punter King went undrafted in 2012 after graduating from Fort Valley State University, but was signed by the Oakland Raiders to a $1.36million, three-year contract.
In 2014, he was the top punter in the NFL but he is currently a free agent.
A number of players have attempted to make the crossover from rugby to American football and vice-versa. Fans of both sports have debated in recent years whether or not NFL stars could easily make the transition to rugby, as King claims.
Australian Hayden Smith starred for Saracens and was also briefly on the books of the New York Jets in the NFL. Rugby league ace Valentine Holmes also featured for the NY Jets in 2019 pre-season action before returning to rugby.
