Congressman says 'possible terrorist nexus' in Vegas massacre

WASHINGTON _ Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry speculated that there was a "possible terrorist nexus" in the Las Vegas mass shooting in October.

"Well, I smell a rat like a lot of Americans do. Nothing is adding up. It's been four months as you said," the Pennsylvania Republican said in an interview with Fox News' Tucker Carlson.

Perry, a member of the conservative Freedom Caucus, said that he "had been made aware of what I believe to be credible evidence" of "terrorist infiltration" from the Southern border.

The massacre was the largest mass shooting in recent history. Stephen Paddock opened fire from a hotel window, killing 58 people at a country music festival below.

"ISIS twice before the attack, ISIS warned the United States that they would attack Las Vegas I think in June and August and then after the attack claimed responsibility four times," Perry said.

"Meanwhile the local law enforcement investigative services are telling us there is no terrorist connection lone gunman, again, something is not adding up," Perry added.

But Catherine Lombardo, an attorney for the victims in Las Vegas, said so far there is no evidence of terrorist involvement.

Lombardo said unless Perry had specific evidence "it seems a bit irresponsible to make that allegation."

But Perry said he was "not able to" mention evidence of that being the case.

"I'm telling you I have received what I feel to be and believe to be credible evidence of a possible terrorist nexus," he said.

But when Lombardo asked, he said: "We're going to have to wait."
