Florida Representative Cory Mills is now free from a domestic violence investigation that has been hanging over him for seven months. The Metropolitan Police Department in Washington DC has officially closed the case involving allegations that Mills physically assaulted a woman at his luxury apartment in February.
The investigation began after police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at Mills’ apartment building in the Wharf neighborhood on February 19. The woman, who called 911, later changed her story and rescinded her claims. Mills had strongly denied accusations from the beginning.
In an email exchange between Mills’ legal team and police investigators, an officer confirmed that “the case is closed,” according to documents provided by Mills’ office to The Hill. The congressman celebrated the news in a statement where he thanked the Metro Police Department for their work and said the media’s claims had been proven false.
Mills still faces harassment allegations from beauty queen
While the domestic violence case is now behind him, Mills continues to face serious accusations from another woman. Lindsey Langston, who won the Miss United States title in 2024 and serves as a Florida Republican state committee member, has filed a restraining order against the congressman.
Langston claims that Mills has been threatening to release private videos and images of them together after their romantic relationship ended in February. She also says Mills threatened to harm any men she might date in the future. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now looking into these claims.
The relationship between Mills and Langston started in November 2021, according to police reports. Langston says she broke up with Mills after learning about his alleged involvement with the Washington DC woman through news reports. After the breakup, she claims Mills continued to contact her through different accounts despite her requests to be left alone.

According to court documents, a hearing for Langston’s restraining order request is set for September 5. Mills has denied these accusations as well, with his office saying they are false and politically motivated. The congressman’s legal troubles come at a time when he was planning to run for the US Senate in 2026, similar to how other politicians have faced career-damaging scandals involving harassment allegations.
The original domestic violence investigation involved several unusual circumstances. News reports show there were three different versions of the police report about the incident. An arrest warrant was sent to the US attorney’s office but was never signed. At that time, Ed Martin was serving as interim US attorney, but he has since been replaced by Jeanine Pirro, the former Fox News host who was confirmed by the Senate in August.
Mills has portrayed both sets of allegations against him as politically motivated attacks. In his statement about the closed investigation, he said some people were trying to use the situation to hurt his chances in the 2026 election. He pointed to his work helping constituents in Florida’s 7th District, saying he has returned over $76 million to residents through his services. The congressman’s situation mirrors other high-profile cases where public figures have faced multiple allegations of improper behavior that threatened to damage their careers and reputations.
The 44-year-old Mills is currently serving his second term in Congress representing a district between Orlando and Daytona Beach. He easily won re-election last year, defeating his Democratic opponent by more than 10 percentage points. Despite the various investigations and allegations, Mills continues to serve in Congress and maintain his innocence regarding all claims against him.
