Congressman Condemns Republicans For Linking Democrats To Hamas

U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson

Congressman Josh Gottheimer recently spoke out against Republicans who accused Democratic colleagues of supporting Hamas due to their stance on aid legislation for Israel. Gottheimer emphasized his support for aid packages for Israel but condemned the Republicans' claims as outrageous and offensive.

He highlighted the importance of maintaining a bipartisan U.S.-Israel relationship for national security and combating terrorism in the region. Gottheimer expressed concern over the political games being played by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) and urged them to retract their statements and apologize.

Gottheimer also addressed the internal party disagreements within the Democratic Party regarding the handling of the conflict. He emphasized the need to focus on common objectives, such as securing the release of American hostages, defeating Hamas, and providing humanitarian aid to the region.

Regarding President Biden's approach to the situation, Gottheimer acknowledged differences of opinion but stressed the importance of upholding a strong U.S.-Israeli relationship. He called for unity in working towards shared goals despite occasional disagreements on strategies.

Gottheimer underscored the urgency of addressing the ongoing conflict and emphasized the need to prioritize the safe return of American hostages, combatting terrorist threats, and delivering essential aid to the affected region. He urged all parties to remain focused on the ultimate mission and work together towards achieving common objectives.
