DEHRADUN: The Opposition Congress in Uttarakhand has announced to stage protests in all 13 districts against the “anti-people policies of the Union and state governments and inflation.” The Congress members would set ablaze effigies of the BJP government in all districts.
Congress state chief Karan Mahara has issued a letter to all the district and mahanagar units to hold a protest on Tuesday. Mahara, in the letter, has directed various units of the party to take out protest rallies.
“On one end, people are reeling under the petrol prices and at the same time, a proposal has been made to raise the power tariff manifold. The common man finds himself in a tough situation. The anti-people policies of the Union government as well as the state government will be opposed by the Congress,” Mahara said.
He pointed out that senior party members and state office bearers have been told to head the protest in their respective assembly segments. “The Ankita Bhandari case and other crime incidents have revealed the law and order situation in the state. Tuesday’s protest will also raise the issue of unemployment and other problems being faced by the people,” added Mahara.
