MUMBAI: In a piece of advice for Congress, its alliance partner in the state, Shiv Sena on Friday said the grand old party needs a full-time president.
Though Rahul Gandhi was trying to resolve the issues faced by Congress, the old-timers were in a secret pact with the BJP to stop him from doing so with the aim of sinking the party, claimed an editorial titled ‘Congress’s Tonic’ in Saamna, the Sena’s mouthpiece.
Rahul, Sena said, is trying to fix the leakages in the old mansion and give it a fresh coat of paint. “But for that Congress will need a full-time president,” said the editorial. “There’s no point in trying to pacify and win over Sidhu and Amarinder. BJP is trying to break Congress in Punjab and win the polls, this is amusing...BJP also needs Congress’s tonic. When will the Congress leadership realise this?”
It said: “If there is no senapati, how will the army fight? There’s the Gandhi family, but who is the president? Rahul is trying to fix the leakages in the old villa, but some old feudal lords are not letting the new people work …It’s confirmed that the old guard is in a secret pact with BJP and are trying to sink Congress.”
