Congress floor leader K. Selvaperunthagai has given a notice to Assembly Speaker M. Appavu seeking to raise a privilege issue over the Raj Bhavan’s X (formerly Twitter) handle sharing a video clipping of a specific House proceeding on February 12, which was not taken into Assembly records by the Speaker.
Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Mr. Selvaperunthagai sought to know the status of his notice to the Speaker. Recalling that the Speaker had said that only the approved text of the Governor’s Address would be taken into the Assembly records (as per a House resolution), the legislator said the video shared in the social media by the Raj Bhavan handle had a clipping (of certain proceedings) notwithstanding the Speaker’s ‘verdict’.
Mr. Appavu acknowledged that Mr. Selvaperunthagai had given a notice and that it was under scrutiny.
