CHANDIGARH: Congress leader, Navjot Singh Sindhu, who is lodged in Patiala Jail was referred to the PGIMER on Monday morning. He is admitted in the general ward of the Nehru hospital extension in the hepatology department.
According to his treating physicians in the PGI, he had a history of pulmonary embolism in 2009. "He was not complacent in this treatment for the same. We have to start blood thinners for this. However, he has been tested for liver cirrhosis in the hospital. We have to conduct many tests, prior to taking a decision on his treatment regimen," said a senior doctor in the department.
Sidhu is said to be stable, but he needs monitoring. "His condition cannot be seen symptomatically as anytime a clot can be formed in the lungs. So a thorough monitoring and battery of tests have already started," said the doctor.
The ward is beefed up with Punjab police security and no one is allowed without permission. "The doctors in Patiala were unable to handle the case. The patient did not come with any visible symptoms. He got his tests done and was referred to us," said the doctor.
