CHANDIGARH: The war of words between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress in Punjab over interference of Delhi continued on Friday.
After the AAP accused the Congress high command of summoning former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi often to Delhi, the Congress hit back by saying that people from Delhi have been provided offices in Punjab secretariat and are dictating terms.
The Congress and other Opposition parties have been attacking AAP, claiming that the government is being remote controlled by AAP national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has entrusted the task of monitoring the functioning of the Punjab government to few individuals from Delhi. The opposition has been racking up the issue of Naval Aggarwal attending important meetings chaired by chief secretary VK Janjua.
"It is not about the Delhi visits, it is about the fact that people from Delhi have offices in the Punjab Secretariate and are dictating terms. Btw what happened to @raghav_chadha appointment letter? Him not getting any post in @PunjabGovtIndia doesn’t seem to have stopped him," the Congress tweeted.
Rahul Gandhi, during a rally in Pathankot, had alleged that the Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab was being run with remote control. Gandhi had also said he respects chief minister Mann but asked him that Punjab should be run from Punjab only, and not from Delhi, inviting a sharp reaction from AAP. Reacting to the statement, AAP pointed out that the Gandhi family often summoned the then chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi to Delhi.
