Congress govt's agenda of cow, cow dung temporary: Chhattisgarh BJP

RAIPUR: Senior BJP leader Om Mathur, who is in charge of party affairs in Chhattisgarh, on Wednesday said the Congress government’s agenda of cow and cow dung is temporary and is like the Congress approach of remembering temples only when the elections are around the corner.

Mathur, who is on a four-day trip to Chhattisgarh, defined his visit as an organizational one and reiterated that the party will be winning the assembly elections in 2023. “There were only 44 seats when I took over as in-charge of Uttar Pradesh and the results are open to all today. So I don’t see any challenge in Chhattisgarh,” Mathur said while replying to the queries of media persons at BJP state office Kushabhau Thakre Parisar on Wednesday.

Responding to chief minister Bhupesh Baghel’s comment challenging his survival as in-charge of Chhattisgarh, Mathur said that it is the rights of the chief minister as to how he interprets the things. Mathur said that corruption and loot has reached its peak in Chhattisgarh

Mathur said, Congress cannot defeat BJP in a direct fight. He also raised the issue of conversion in Chhattisgarh.

Mathur said that Congress is trying to dilute the issue of reservation through a planned manner, so that the innocent tribals can be misled when the matter is in the court.

On giving preference to the youth, Mathur said the BJP has given opportunity to the youth everywhere and it will be experimented in Chhattisgarh also.

Meanwhile, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel has once again took a dig after Om Mathur's statement and said that Mathur is confused. “Mathur keeps changing his statements everyday.”

On Congress’ allegation regarding the misuse of ED by the centre, Mathur said that BJP has never cried or staged dharna when Amit Shah, who is now home minister, and former Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, were grilled by the enforcement agencies which made them sit for hours.

Earlier, Mathur told party workers to be aggressive while going to poll and launch ‘halla bol’ campaign against the state government and its MLAs. The performance of the government and its MLAs is worse in the last four years which should be strongly raised. He also asked to mobilize the organization from block to booth and launch a mega agitation against the state government to get PM houses for the needy.
