BHUBANESWAR: BJP on Tuesday slammed the Congress for allegedly disrupting proceedings of the ongoing parliament session in a planned way. The saffron party condemned the act of stalling the parliament by Congress leaders.
“Congress is doing cheap and dirty politics by intentionally stalling the proceedings of the parliament by raising a false and baseless report. The Congress leaders and other opposition parties cannot tolerate the popularity of Modi government’s plans and programmes for people of the country and try to defame the country,” said BJP state president Samir Mohanty.
Mohanty said India’s involvement in the Pegasus spyware incident is yet to be proved. “There is no evidence regarding hacking of phones coming to the fore. Without having any proof, there is no logic to say that phones of many people have been hacked,” he added.
He said the UPA government led by Congress in 2013 had replied that 9000 phones and 500 emails were tapped by the government. This shows the real character of the government. “Congress is supporting those persons or organisations who speak against Narendra Modi and his government. It can even go to any extent to defame the government and country,” he added.
Congress leader Smruti Ranjan Lenka criticised the BJP for tapping and hacking phones of journalists, opposition leaders and other important people by using a foreign spy software. “The government is compromising national security with this activity. Congress is vehemently protesting the BJP-led government’s anti-democratic activities,” he added.
