Congress confined freedom struggle to 1 family: MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan

BHOPAL: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday accused the Congress of confining the history of freedom struggle to “only one family” and not allowing anyone else to share the glory.

Speaking at the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, he said, “Congress dubs the BJP as antitribal but when the government decided to observe the birth anniversary of tribal warrior Birsa Munda as the Tribal Pride Day and organise a grand function at Bhopal, two former chief ministers of their party are criticising me for squandering money.”

They can spend lakhs on organising IIFA awards but spending money on Janjati Gaurav Diwas is a wasteful expenditure, he said. The chief minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for declaring Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary as the Tribal Pride Day. “There is no bigger well-wisher of the poor and tribals than Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.

The CM added, the PM has tried to provide all basic needs for a decent living like ‘Roti, Kapda, Makan, Shiksha and Swasthya’ (food, clothing, shelter, education and health) to the poor sections of the society with his welfare schemes. Chouhan said, during the pandemic, the central government provided ration worth Rs 9857 crore for free distribution among the poor to Madhya Pradesh.

He said it’s BJP, which provided roads and electricity to even the remotest areas and now the Prime Minister has undertaken Jal Jeevan Mission so that women in villages don’t have to walk miles for water.

Providing quality education to tribal children is the next objective, he said, and the Prime Minister is laying the foundation stones for 50 Eklavya residential school.

Thanking the Prime Minister for naming Habibganj railway station after Gond queen of Bhopal Rani Kamlapati, he said, “History of Bhopal is not limited to nawabs and begums. Gond queen Rani Kamlapati ruled Bhopal before them but through treachery and deceit, a situation was created that she had to take jal samadhi and Dost Mohammad, who came from Afghanistan established his dynasty in Bhopal,” he said.

He also thanked the Prime Minister for free vaccination for protection from Coronavirus and said it was also the first vaccine indigenously developed by India. Chouhan said Janjati Gaurav Diwas is not a function only but it's a new beginning to change the lives of the tribals for the better. Not only Sickle Cell Anemia Mission is being launched in the state but a campaign to fill the backlog posts for the tribals has also been started.

"Ration-Aapke Gram" is also being launched to provide ration to tribals at their doorstep. Land will also be given to families, who don't have a piece of land to make their own house under ‘CM Bhumi Adhibhar Yojana’ and said that his government would also implement PESA in tribal areas in a phased manner.
