Congress concedes defeat even before start of electoral battle in Himachal Pradesh: BJP leader Devender Rana

SHIMLA: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday claimed that before the start of the electoral battle in Himachal Pradesh, the Congress had conceded defeat.

BJP’s election co-incharge for the state Devender Rana said that state Congress president Pratibha Singh herself "admitted to it two days back".

He said that Congress realises that neither does it have the leadership nor the direction and vision to contest the election — “far from winning it”.

He said there is a lot of dissension and the party is in disarray.

Rana — while addressing media persons in Shimla on Thursday — said that Singh, a third time MP, is "a seasoned politician".

He said that being the wife of former chief minister late Virbhadra Singh, Singh has sensed what is going to happen, so she has also conceded defeat before the elections.

He said that when Pratibha Singh herself has conceded defeat, the people of state have also made up their mind to bring the BJP back to power.

Rana said that there is enthusiasm for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and people are gearing up to attend the Saturday’s youth rally being held in Mandi.

He said that youths know that in today's time if anyone is capable of strengthening the country, it is only Modi.

"On the other hand, Congress is in complete disarray; they have neither leader nor policy nor destiny," he added.

The BJP leader said that today, Congress leaders in the country and the state are not happy with the party.

"Recently, Congress leader from Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned. After that, former Union minister Anand Sharma resigned from the post of chairman of steering committee, and recently Ram Lal Thakur of Himachal resigned from the post of state vice-president," Rane said, adding, Congress leaders, office-bearers and workers are "considering themselves insecure while staying in the party.”

Responding to a question, Rana said that there is no difference within the BJP.

He said that tickets will be allotted only after the decision of the parliamentary board and the party's high command.
