'Congratulations Arsenal' - Man United fans can't believe what Michael Carrick has done

Manchester United host Arsenal tonight in a game crucial for both club’s top four ambitions.

The Gunners currently sit fifth in the Premier League, just a point behind fourth placed West Ham.

United are five points behind the Gunners in 10th going into the game and are in desperate need of a win to haul themselves back into the top four race.

Michael Carrick will take charge of the Red Devils with interim boss Ralf Rangnick taking the mantle after tonight when his visa paperwork will have been settled.

Here’s how a selection of United fans have reacted to Carrick’s last starting line-up as caretaker boss and it's fair to say they weren't fully supportive of his team selection.

@JaiSR “Maguire and Dalot in the same backline? Congratulations in advance.”

@UTDFrankie “Carrick was more of a problem than Ole lol, u can see he influenced him.”

@_Davies “Ralf Rangnick needs to learn quickly that McFred isn't the way.”

@Gerry_Deakin “What does Maguire have to do to be dropped? Besides be the worst defender in the league…”

@gboyeezy “Eric Bailly deserves better and I hope he leaves this club in January. Dropping him to the bench after the performance against Chelsea is a shame. I hope he leaves.”

@alhxmdulillah “loool why’s Maguire starting? When bailly and lindelof were great together on sunday.”

@TheRealSunilk “Ole and his coaches love mcfred always in the team never rotating them with other players but we seem to take Bruno and CR7. It’s embarrassing at this rate. Carrick needs to sort himself out.”

@WatsonEsbee1 “Maguire starting ahead of Bailly...?? I don't get it.”

@FUNKYTWON49 “How has Maguire walked back into this team after his horrendous run of performances? Especially on the back of a.solid defensive display by Bailly & Lindelof in the last game.”

@D0ntGetItTwiStd “Don’t tell me Rangnick didn’t have a say on this lineup… However, it could get interesting tonight - all that matters though is 3 vital points.”

@Smart_Suren “Can we have a manager who drops players when they’re out of form, rather than wait for them to be injured or suspended?”
