Congestion is 'absolutely hectic' at busy Nottingham junction, residents say

Residents who live near a busy Nottingham junction have spoken out about the traffic build-up along the road.

Some say they have witnessed crashes, while other residents have spoken about hearing a lot of 'beeping' as frustrated drivers navigate the junction of Forest Road East and the A60, Mansfield Road.

Maeve O'Connell, 21, a student at Nottingham Trent University has recently moved to Forest Road East close to the junction.

She said: "It definitely gets busy when people are coming from work.

"You hear beeping all the time, it is constant beeping.

"It is congested most of the time, the beeping happens most when it is less busy."

Now that the summer period is over and schools are back, residents say the congestion is far worse.

Larisha Swinsko, 43, has been living on Addison Street since she was ten-years-old.

She explained how the traffic gets worse when schools reopened as parents park on the road to pick up their children.

She said: "It's murder.

"It takes you ages to get home and you wait ages for a space.

"It goes on until half five and can be absolutely hectic.

"It is every single day.

"It's just crazy, a lot of it is from the high school and when parents come to get their kids it's like gridlock, you cannot move."

Miss Swinsko explained how she has witnessed several crashes on the road because of the parked cars along the street.

"There are always crashes as you can't see the cars pull out, my daughter won't come out onto that road anymore because of it and it is really dangerous", she added.

Patrick Mckenzie, 40, who has worked at Browns Barber opposite the junction for several years, thinks the traffic is awful.

He said: "It is quite horrible, especially after work and at 3:15pm when schools are out.

"The traffic lights is where it is worse, you hear lots of beeping.

"It is very busy and has been the same for a while."

Will Davies, 21, student, has only lived on the road for a week and thinks the congestion is terrible.

He said: "It is really bad, it's bumper to bumper all the way down to Forest Road West.

"At rush hour it's worse and queues go down all the way to the junction.

"I see it all the time."
