Confusion at Manchester Pride Live as Mayfield Depot site opens THREE HOURS late

Ticket holders have been turned away from Manchester Pride Live at Mayfield Depot as the festival site is deemed 'not ready'.

Gates finally opened three hours later than scheduled to finally allow music fans to enter the former railway station, but some performances have been delayed.

Mayfield Depot was supposed to be open from 12pm, but as late as 3pm members of the public were still being turned away from the main gates.

Gok Wan, whose set was scheduled to begin at 2.30pm, didn't take to the decks until 3.20pm.

Sophie Wilson, who was one of the customers turned away from the entrance, said: "Came at 12 and there were JCBs still building, got told by security that the path up to the depot from the yard was meant to be tarmac but they’ve not had time to do that, good job it’s not been raining.

"Also told the builders could have worked last night but didn’t.

"Security non the wiser as to what time it will open at, Gok Wan should have been on now."

Fans were quick to take to Twitter to voice their frustrations.

One wrote: "Come on @ManchesterPride !? can you explain what is going on at Mayfield. Stood waiting in the sun with no explanation as to why it’s not open or when it will be"

The event was also likened to Fyre Festival, the infamous event that was the subject of a recent Netflix documentary, where music fans were left tens of thousands of pounds out of pocket.

Tom Hannigan, 25, who is looking forward to seeing Kim Petras and Years and Years today, said: "I don't actually know where to go in. It's not very clear.

"On the event they didn't have the exact location so we just stumbled across this entrance and though 'I hope this is it.'"

Speaking of the delay, Tom said: "It's annoying but I'm not too bothered. We're going to go and get some tins from Sainsbury's and sit on the grass while we wait!"

He and his group of four friends have travelled up from Portsmouth for the LGBT+ celebration.

Lille Grace Semmens, 23, said: "It is annoying that there's no drinks or anything, it's boiling.

"I think they should make the festival longer to make up for it!

"Everyone's paid a lot of money to be here, we've travelled five hours to come here.

"They shouldn't cut the sets short, they should just make the festival longer."

The M.E.N. has approached Manchester Pride for comment.

It's not yet clear how the schedule for music acts will be affected.
