The Government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme officially started last week, offering diners 50% off Monday-Wednesday.
However, there is one key rule which has left many confused with some people even looking for a loophole to get around it.
The confusion surrounds the rule which states customers can't take your food away once you have ordered because the discount does not apply to takeaway orders.
This means you could not claim the discount at a McDonald's drive-thru but you could if you visited its restaurant and sat in to eat.
According to BirminghamLive on Twitter, many have been quick to voice their confusion. One user said: "Okay, I’m confused by this Eat Out to Help Out scheme now.
"It’s not valid on takeaways but is valid on restaurants doing collection only? What’s the difference?!"

A second said: "Feel totally cheated by Eat Out to Help Out because it’s not for takeaway (called OUT like away not in like INSIDE restaurant) but nevertheless enjoyed my paneer masala dosa from my fave."
And, a third added: "Apparently the 'Eat Out' discount only applies to dining in and not takeaway?! So shouldn't they have called it 'Eat In to Help Out'?"
The main rules of the scheme are a 50% reduced bill at participating eateries, with each diner allowed up to £10 off - but not including alcohol or a tip.

The scheme is automatically applied at the till, with no voucher needed, the government has confirmed.
