Police say a man found wondering naked around the centre of Gateshead was in a state of confusuion.
Over 700 people shared a picture of Sunday's incident on Facebook.
It showed an undressed male walking around near the Park Lane pub.
One witness told ChronicleLive that at one point he was spotted heading towards the Gateshead Metro interchange.
Northumbria Police said they received a number of calls from concerned members of the public as the incident unfolded.
However, the force confirmed that it is not pursuing criminal action.
"Police received a number of reports of concern for a man in the town centre of Gateshead on Sunday, October 13," said a Northumbria Police spokesperson.
"Officers located the man who was found naked and in a confused state. He was taken to hospital. No further police action was required."
