Confused East Lothian neighbours find car abandoned in trees as police investigate

Musselburgh residents were left perplexed after waking to find a car hanging out of the bushes on Olive Bank Road.

The vehicle, which appears to be a Fiat Qubo, can be seen sticking out from trees and bushes in the East Lothian town.

Police say that they had received a call from a concerned member of the public at around 05.45am on the morning of Sunday November 7.

They say that it is not yet known how the car ended up in that position but that enquiries are ongoing to find out the circumstances of the incident.

A bright yellow sign stating “Police Aware” is visible on the rear window of the car and residents on Facebook have said that cops were in attendance at the scene during the afternoon of November 7.

Elements of the Fiat Qubo bumper can be seen to the side of the car insinuating that the front of the vehicle was damaged.

Skid marks are also visible at the scene which would point to the fact that the driver attempted to slam on the brakes as the car veered off course.

A Police spokesperson said: “Around 5.45am on Sunday 7 November 2021, police received a report of an abandoned car found in trees in Olive Bank Road, Musselburgh. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
