Confused cops rush towards screams for help but find 'very upset goat' separated from friends

Police officers furiously rushed to the rescue of what they thought was a person in distress only to realise the voice that could be heard screaming in agony was just a goat.

The two cops In Enid, Oklahoma State, were on the hunt for a person in distress after receiving a call for help.

The officers can be seen on body camera footage sprinting towards the sound of someone yelling for assistance in a field.

As they run closer, the muffled cry grows louder, mounting the officers' concern.

They were sure they were closing in on someone in dire straits but when they finally reached the source of the commotion, they discovered that their person who needed to be rescued was none other than a grumpy goat.

The police officers thought someone was yelling 'Help' only to find out it was a goat (Newsflash)

Apparently, the farmyard animal had become rather vocal after being separated from its buddies.

One red-faced officer says in the footage: "It's a goat."

And the other officer responds: "A goat? Oh, it is!"

The farmer explained the situation to the officers, and they quickly realised their mistake.

The Enid Police Department issued a statement thanking the officers for their quick response and sense of duty, even though it turned out to be a false alarm.

"Sometimes a call can really get your goat," they said.

"Officer David Sneed and Officer Neal Storey responded to a report of someone heard yelling for help.

"Upon arriving, the officers began walking toward the faint sound of someone yelling.

"As they got closer, Officer Sneed could hear a distinct yell for “help.”

"Running toward the sound, the two soon discovered their damsel in distress was a very upset goat, who the farmer explained, had been separated from one of his friends.

"Thank you, gentlemen. Your swift actions (although in the end not necessary) are appreciated by us all.

"All in all, you really can’t say it was that baaad of a call."
