Conflicting reports on Miami’s interest in QB Bridgewater

Swing, and a miss! Or maybe not. The Dolphins are reportedly striking out on free agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. That’s the word from the NFL Network’s Jane Slater, who this morning reported that Bridgewater is declining a more expensive offer from Miami to return to the Saints and once more serve as the back-up to Drew Brees.

But 3 Yards Per Carry, a Dolphins subdivision of local Miami outlet 5 Reasons Sports (headed by former beat Ethan Skolnick) is disputing the claim.

“It is being reported that Teddy Bridgewater was offered a contract by Miami, but I am told they did not (offer).” – 3 Yards Per Carry

Bridgewater, who was traded to New Orleans from the Jets prior to the 2018 season, is a South Florida native, which would make a decision to bypass a chance to start for the Dolphins a surprising one. He played his high school ball at Miami Northwestern HS.

With that said, it would not hard to see where Bridgewater is coming from. He’s been on a long road back from a horrific leg injury that nearly cost him his leg and now finally appears primed to step back onto the field.

Miami’s offensive line situation would expose Bridgewater to a lot of contact, whereas in New Orleans he can wait out the final year of Drew Brees’ current contract as the heir apparent.

More to come on this developing story.
