Confirmed Tottenham team vs Leicester: Doherty and Sanchez start, Ndombele out, Bale on bench

It's the final day of the Premier League season.

And for Tottenham fans the final whistle probably cannot come soon enough.

A season that started so well and promised so much has fizzled out into nothingness. Jose Mourinho was sacked, Ryan Mason has taken interim charge and there's the very real possibility that Spurs finish as low as ninth come full-time today.

They can, however, still qualify for the Europa League, but will need to be Leicester today and hope that London rivals West Ham are beaten at home by Southampton. The newly formed Europa Conference League looks more likely, but they can be overhauled for that by Everton and or Arsenal.

Mason has had a number of team selection issues to deal with for today's game, with Ben Davies remaining out and Japhet Tanganga joining him on the sidelines.

Mason has, however, been able to name a strong team, looking to stop Leicester from finishing in the top four this season.

He has made a number of changes, with Matt Doherty coming in at right-back and Davinson Sanchez starting alongside Toby Alderweireld in the heart of defence, with Eric Dier dropping to the bench.

Steven Bergwijn starts again after his goal against Aston Villa, with Gareth Bale on the bench. Mason has also given bench roles to youngsters Nile John and Dane Scarlett.

There are two big omissions, with Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso not even in the squad. Mason was asked about the lack of game time for Ndombele during his press conference ahead of the game.

There have been plenty of headlines around Harry Kane and his future at the club, with the England captain admitting he would have a conversation with chairman Daniel Levy about his Tottenham future this summer.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United are all interested in the frontman, who would cost upwards of £100million this summer.

He plays, as expected, as he chases the Golden Boot this summer, needing to match or better Mohamed Salah's return on the final day.

Confirmed team to face Leicester: Lloris, Doherty, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Reguilon, Højbjerg, Winks, Dele, Bergwijn, Son, Kane. Subs: Hart, Rodon, Dier, John, Lamela, Lucas, Bale, Scarlett, Vinicius.
