Confirmed: Nottingham Forest sanction transfer for highly-rated youngster

It has been confirmed that young Nottingham Forest goalkeeper George Shelvey has completed a short-term loan move to non-league club Truro City.

The 18-year-old stopper has signed a one-month loan deal with the Southern League Premier Division South club.

Shelvey is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Reds, but was handed a place on the bench for their FA Cup third round tie against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in January.

The young keeper is highly-rated at the Nigel Doughty academy, having signed for Forest in the summer of 2018, and impressed for the club’s under-18 side which saw him progress to Chris Cohen’s under-23 squad.

Shelvey was part of the Forest squad that travelled to Spain and Greece last summer for the pre-season training camps under manager Sabri Lamouchi.

The keeper becomes the second player this season to sign on loan for Truro, following striker Will Swan who also spent time at Treyew Road.

Swan initially signed a one-month loan deal in January, but that was extended at the start of February.

Truro confirmed on Friday that Swan had returned to the City Ground, after scoring nine goals in nine matches.
