Confirmed: Nottingham Forest make statement signing as PSG youngster joins

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of highly-rated teenager Loic Mbe Soh.

The defender has made the move from French giants PSG, putting pen to paper on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The Reds fought off a host of competition for the 19-year-old, with Championship rivals Norwich City and Middlesbrough linked, as well as a number of clubs in Europe, such as Cadiz, RCD Mallorca, Bordeaux, Brest and SD Huesca.

Mbe Soh becomes Forest’s seventh new addition of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Jack Colback, Tyler Blackett, Lyle Taylor, Fouad Bachirou, Luke Freeman and Miguel Angel Guerrero.

He will link up with Sabri Lamouchi’s squad ahead of Saturday’s opening Championship game of the season, away to QPR, as they prepare to mount a promotion push.

However, the head coach said in his pre-match press conference on Thursday that any new additions would not be eligible to play at Loftus Road.

Tipped to have a bright future, Mbe Soh can play both centre-back and right-back.

He has made three first-team appearances for PSG in Ligue 1, with his debut coming in a 2-1 victory away to Angers in May 2019.

Born in Cameroon, he has represented France at various different youth levels, including with the Under-19 and Under-18 age groups - and captained the latter.

Speaking before he had signed, Lamouchi said of Mbe Soh: “The only thing I can say is he’s a good player.

“I know him because he’s French and from a big club in France.

“If the club can sign him, it’s a very good opportunity for the club.”
