Confirmed: Nottingham Forest make Scotland international defender their 11th signing

Nottingham Forest continue to be busy in the transfer market, confirming the arrival of defender Scott McKenna.

The Scotland international has made the move from Aberdeen for an undisclosed fee to become the Reds’ 11th summer signing, agreeing a four-year deal.

That makes it two new acquisitions in the space of less than 24 hours for the club, after Harry Arter put pen to paper on Tuesday night.

The duo follow on from the earlier arrivals of Jack Colback, Tyler Blackett, Lyle Taylor, Fouad Bachirou, Luke Freeman, Miguel Angel Guerrero, Loic Mbe Soh, Abdoulaye Diallo and Cyrus Christie as Sabri Lamouchi looks to bolster his squad.

McKenna will provide another option in the centre of defence, with the head coach understood to be keen to shore up a back line which has looked vulnerable in the opening two Championship games.

Tobias Figueiredo and Joe Worrall have been the first-choice partnership so far, but will now have more competition, with McKenna joining Michael Dawson, Yohan Benalouane and fellow summer arrivals Mbe Soh and Blackett in fighting for a spot.

The 23-year-old has been a long-term target for Forest, with the club having tried to sign him last summer, amid interest from a number of other teams.

The deal is said to be worth £3m up front, but could reach £5m with various add-ons, while Aberdeen reportedly have a sell-on clause which could see them bag more than 20 percent of any future sale.

McKenna has come up through the ranks at the Scottish club and has made close to 120 appearances for them, while also having loan spells at Ayr United and Alloa Athletic.

He links up with the Reds ahead of Friday’s clash at Huddersfield Town, where they will go in search of their first win of the season.
