Nottingham Forest have confirmed Anthony Knockaert will remain at the club on loan for the rest of the season.
The Fulham winger’s initial contract with the Reds ran out last Thursday, after he had joined on domestic deadline day in October.
He was the only one of 14 signings made during the summer transfer window to arrive under Chris Hughton.
Announcing the extension to his loan spell, the club said: “Nottingham Forest are delighted to announce that Anthony Knockaert’s loan deal has been extended.
“The winger joined initially on loan until the start of January from Fulham but has now extended that deal until the end of the 2020-21 season.
“The Frenchman has featured 16 times for the Reds since moving to the City Ground in October, providing two assists and scoring once, and will now remain as part of Chris Hughton’s squad for the rest of the campaign.”.
Forest had an option to buy the 29-year-old, but have instead agreed an extension to his loan which will keep him at the City Ground until the summer - despite reported interest from abroad.
Boss Hughton has said of Knockaert: “What I will say about Anthony is he has certainly given us something in this period of time, different to the other wide players we’ve got.
“Over the period of time he has started to have more influence.
“This is a player we’ve had here since the start of the season and he’s got better in the period of time he’s been here.”
