Confirmed: Nottingham Forest announce defender transfer

Nottingham Forest defender Carl Jenkinson has joined Melbourne City on loan.

The 29-year-old has moved to the Australian side until the end of the season.

Jenkinson signed for Forest from Arsenal back in 2019 after eight years with the Gunners.

He went on to make 15 appearances for Forest but has now moved to the A-League.

Melbourne City are managed by former Leicester City defender Patrick Kisnorbo and they currently sit fourth in the top flight of Australian football.

“I’m excited to be joining a Club that are the current Champions of Australia," Jenkinson told Melbourne City's official website.

“I’ve heard a lot of good things about both Melbourne as a beautiful city, the professionalism of the Club and the quality of the league.

“I’m looking forward to meeting Patrick and all of the boys in person, learning the team’s style of play and meeting the fans. I can’t wait to get involved.”

Melbourne City's director of football Michael Petrillo added: “Carl is a player with experience at the highest level that will add to the quality of our squad. We’re pleased to have attracted a player of his calibre to the club.

“His versatility provides us with a number of options as he can play at right back, as a central defender and in a defensive midfield position. We are confident Carl will suit our attacking style of play and help us to achieve our goals on the pitch."
