Confirmed: Defender's Nottingham Forest contract terminated by mutual consent

Defender Yohan Benalouane has left Nottingham Forest, with his contract terminated by mutual consent.

And the 33-year-old has immediately put pen to paper with Greek club Aris.

Benalouane arrived from Leicester City in January 2019 and made a good impression initially, scoring the winner against Derby County.

However, he drifted out of the first team picture under Sabri Lamouchi after suffering a back injury.

He has not featured for the Reds this season and only made two appearances last term, against Chelsea in the FA Cup and in the club's penultimate game, when he came in from the cold to come off the bench in the 1-0 defeat to Barnsley.

Announcing his departure, Forest said: "Nottingham Forest can confirm that Yohan Benalouane has left the club by mutual consent.

"The club would like to thank Yohan for his efforts during his time at The City Ground and wish him well for the future."

Benalouane follows Nuno Da Costa in making a move on international transfer deadline day, with the striker having moved to Belgium on a season-long loan.

The club are keen to trim the squad still further and with a domestic-only window to follow, closing on October 16, further outgoings are expected.
