Confirmed Crystal Palace XI vs Arsenal: Tosun makes bench as Kouyate replaces Milivojevic

Roy Hodgson has decided against handing new loan signing Cenk Tosun his full debut against Arsenal this afternoon.

The Turkish striker joined the Eagles on Friday on a deal until the end of the season and did train with the squad but has only been deemed fit for the bench.

Hodgson has also chosen to replace the suspended Luka Milivojevic with Cheikhou Kouyate who will make his first Premier League start since Boxing Day. James Tomkins takes the captain's armband in place of the Serb.

Vicente Guaita stays in goal looking to continue his good form and will be shielded by Martin Kelly, Tomkins, Gary Cahill and Jairo Riedewald at left-back.

Kouyate is in a midfield three with James McCarthy and James McArthur as Max Meyer and Wilfried Zaha will look to take Palace up the pitch in the wide areas.

Jordan Ayew keeps his place up top but hasn't scored since his spectacular solo effort vs West Ham on Boxing Day.

Ahead of the match, Hodgson is wary of the threat Arsenal carry but is buoyed by the prospect of facing them with a fresher squad.

"Our positive Premier League record faces a tough hurdle today, with Arsenal making their first visit to Selhurst Park under new manager, Mikel Arteta," he said to .

"I look forward to the challenge of facing his team and hope that we can repeat the performance earlier this when we earned a deserved 2-2 draw at the Emirates.

"Today's match will be as difficult, if not harder, as again we will be forced to field a team hit by injury, though I hope having nearly a full week to prepare will see the squad in better shape to play than in previous matches."
