Confirmed Crystal Palace line up vs West Ham: James McCarthy starts, Gary Cahill named captain

Roy Hodgson has made just one change to his team that faced Norwich City for the trip to West Ham.

Luka Milivojevic is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season against the Canaries and is replaced by James McCarthy.

The Eagles boss had noted that his midfield may need some adjustment with the absence of the Serbian, but was confident that McCarthy being ready to start a match.

Hodgson said: "When you talk about losing one of your best players for a game, a player who has been quite outstanding over the last two years, you have to be very careful in saying it won't be difficult to fill those shoes, obviously it will.

"We don't have two Luka's, but we do have other players who I thikn can go in and have a good game, enable us to stick to the principles under which we try to work and players that will enable us to carry out the game plan and the way we want to approach the game. They will be different, whoever I put in, it won't be a Luka and it might mean some adjustment to the midfield area in order for us to do it."

Gary Cahill captains the side in Milivojevic's absence from the heart of defence as the Palace boss maintains his team's consistency.

Mamadou Sakho remains out with a strain, though is return date remains uncertain

West Ham XI: Roberto; Fredericks, Diop, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Rice, Noble, Yarmolenko, Lanzini, Anderson; Haller

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita; Ward, Kelly, Cahill; van Aanholt, McArthur, Kouyate, McCarthy; Zaha, Ayew, Schlupp
