Hakim Ziyech is the surprise name in the Chelsea side for this afternoon's Premier League clash against Newcastle United at St James' Park, with Mason Mount not included in the Blues' matchday squad.
The Morocco international has struggled for form in recent weeks but Mount's absence has forced Tuchel's hand and Ziyech has another opportunity to impress Tuchel in his favoured role on the right of the attack.
There are few surprises across the rest of the starting XI given Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic and Mateo Kovacic are also sidelined for today's encounter in the North East.
In goal for Chelsea is Edouard Mendy and the Senegal international is aiming to keep his sixth clean sheet in just nine top-flight games this term.
Andreas Christensen, who missed the midweek Carabao Cup win over Southampton, returns on the right of the back three while Thiago Silva occupies the central role. On the left, as always, is Antonio Rudiger.
Reece James and Ben Chilwell occupy the right and left wing-back spots respectively. And ahead of today's game, Tuchel praised the impacts made by the England internationals.
"[They are] very important, very important positions in the system we play," Tuchel said.
"A very important part of the position is to arrive in the box and to create a goal threat from that position. Not to just be the ball-possession guy on the side and to be responsible for ball control. This is what we want and what we demand.
"I'm happy that Chilly is growing into his full potential and pushing the limits constantly because it fits, in my opinion, pretty perfectly in his player profile. "For Reecey, you see sometimes he plays in the back line of three. I would not do this with Chilly.
"In terms of character, he's not a guy who can play in the back three. He takes by character a little more risk, he feels a little more free to arrive in offensive positions.
"We have to encourage him to trust himself to arrive in the box and be dangerous because he can be a real threat positionally but also technically."
With no Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek only returning to training yesterday after a hip issue, it's no surprise that N'Golo Kante and Jorginho start. It's only the third time this season the two Ballon d'Or contenders have been in the same starting XI.
Kai Havertz leads the Blues attack once more and will be looking to continue his improved form. The German scored against Malmo and Norwich and looked sharp against Southampton in midweek.
Callum Hudson-Odoi is back on the left of the front three and on the opposite side of the pitch is Ziyech. The only attacking option available on the bench to Tuchel is Loftus-Cheek.
A victory today for Chelsea would take them to 25 points after ten matches. The only time this has been achieved in the last eleven seasons was in 2014/15 under Jose Mourinho. The Blues ended that campaign as champions.
