Confirmed Chelsea team vs Man City: Timo Werner and N'Golo Kante start, Romelu Lukaku returns

Thomas Tuchel has made four changes from the side that beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League as Edouard Mendy, Reece James, Timo Werner and N'Golo Kante all start against Man City.

The quartet replace the injured Mason Mount, Thiago Silva who drops to the bench, Kai Havertz who does likewise and Kepa, who has started the past two games.

As revealed by the head coach at his press conference on Friday afternoon, Mason Mount is ruled out through injury for just the third time in his senior Chelsea career.

He has been replaced by Werner in the lineup.

Edouard Mendy returns from injury to start in goal for the home side and he replaces Kepa, who performed well in the Senegal stopper's absence over the past fortnight but is relegated back to the bench for the visit of the reigning league title holders.

Thiago Silva is named among the substitutes as Reece James comes into the side. Antonio Rudiger is also restored to the backline having had Wednesday night off and so is Marcos Alonso, with Ben Chilwell making way.

N'Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic all start in the Blues midfield for the lunchtime kick off.

Andreas Christensen is back in the side too having been rested in midweek, who is back on the bench with Cesar Azpilicueta also returning to the right wing-back role having had Wednesday night off.

Romelu Lukaku is named as a starter, unsurprisingly, after his substitute came in midweek and we think he starts in a front two alongside Werner.

Chelsea team vs Man City: Mendy; James, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger, Alonso; Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic; Werner, Lukaku.
