Confirmed Chelsea team vs Crystal Palace – Timo Werner benched but Kai Havertz starts

Thomas Tuchel has named a strong Chelsea side for this afternoon's Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Last weekend's defeat coupled with results elsewhere have seen the Blues fall out of the Premier League top-four. A victory today would move Tuchel's side back into the Champions League positions, at least until tomorrow afternoon when West Ham United take on Leicester City.

Edouard Mendy has kept ten clean sheets in 13 games since the arrival of Tuchel so there is no surprise the Senegal international starts in goal once more.

The back three consists of Cesar Azpilicueta, Kurt Zouma and Antonio Rudiger.

Andreas Christensen is ruled out due to injury while Thiago Silva is suspended after being sent off in last weekend's shock 5-2 home defeat to West Bromwich Albion.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been brought on at right wing-back. On the opposite flank is Ben Chiwell who keeps his place in the starting XI after scoring a vital second goal in the midweek Champions League win over Porto.

In midfield, Tuchel has opted for a partnership of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic. N'Golo Kante, who returned from a hamstring injury on Wednesday night, is only on the bench.

Mason Mount retains his spot in the front three after his stunning strike against Porto while Christian Pulisic is expected to play off the left flank.

Kai Havertz struggled in the midweek win but has retain his spot in the starting XI. Olivier Giroud, Tammy Abraham and notably Timo Werner are all on the bench.
