Confirmed Arsenal XI vs West Ham: Pablo Mari makes league debut with Sokratis at right-back

Pablo Mari is set to make his first Premier League start of the season as Mikel Arteta's names an unchanged Arsenal back four to take on West Ham.

Mari made his full debut against Portsmouth on Monday night, helping the Gunners to keep a clean sheet in a back four that included Sokratis Papstathopoulos at right-back. He retains his place with Hector Bellerin on the bench.

Further forward Eddie Nketiah leads the line with a trio of Nicolas Pepe, Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in behind. Alexandre Lacazette has to settle for a place on the bench.

Dani Ceballos and Granit Xhaka start in midfield.

Mikel Arteta on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future

Lucas Torreira is unavailable after fracturing his ankle whilst Calum Chambers and Cedric Soares (both knee) are sidelined. Meanwhile David Moyes has named an unchanged side from the win over Southampton.

A win for Arsenal would move them within five points of Chelsea in fourth place and Arteta is acutely aware that his side's dreams of a top four finish suddenly appear more realistic: "Beat West Ham on Saturday and we are closer.

"That's all I am thinking because a few weeks ago it looked impossible and if we beat West Ham it will look more likely. So that's the only aim.

"If game-by-game we go and start grabbing three points and three points and three points, and then we'll have a chance in the last three or four games of the season."

Arsenal XI: Leno; Sokratis, Luiz, Mari, Saka; Ceballos, Xhaka; Pepe, Ozil, Aubameyang; Nketiah
